The biggest surprise? How little effort it took.
A common assumption about AI-powered website assistants is that implementation is expensive, complicated and resource intensive. After all, surely an AI assistant requires months of preparation, endless programming and a large technical team?
Not necessarily.
At 3G’s and MHO, we recently introduced Gus, our AI-powered Marketing Guide, onto our website. And one of our first observations has been just how much of the required knowledge already existed.
The Knowledge Was Already There
Most businesses already possess a significant amount of valuable information. For us, this included:
- Website content
- Service descriptions
- Blog articles
- Marketing resources
- Frequently asked questions
- Internal expertise documentation
- Process documentation
Rather than creating content from scratch, the implementation process primarily involved organising and connecting existing knowledge. In many cases, the biggest challenge isn’t creating information. It’s making that information easily accessible.
What Gus Can Do
Visitors can now ask Gus questions such as:
- What marketing services do you offer?
- Do I need a website or SEO?
- What is MHO?
- How does a marketing audit work?
- How can AI help my business?
Rather than forcing visitors to navigate multiple pages, Gus can provide immediate responses and guide them toward the most appropriate next step.
Human Connection Still Matters
One concern we often hear is that AI will replace human interaction. That is not our objective. Gus has been designed to support conversations, not replace relationships. When appropriate, Gus directs visitors toward the relevant member of the 3G’s and MHO team.
The goal is to improve human interaction by ensuring visitors reach the right person sooner.
AI Is Becoming Accessible To Businesses Of All Sizes
One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding AI is that it is only viable for large organisations. The reality is very different.
Today’s AI assistant platforms allow solutions to be deployed at various levels depending on:
- Business size
- Website traffic
- Number of information sources
- Required functionality
- Language requirements
This means businesses of all sizes can begin benefiting from conversational customer engagement.
The Experiment Continues
Now that Gus is live, the real learning begins.
Over the coming weeks we will monitor:
- Visitor engagement
- Types of questions asked
- Customer behaviour
- Lead generation impact
- User experience feedback
So please, come and try out Gus. Gus hangs out on the bottom left of our website screen.
In our next article, we’ll share what we’ve learned and whether conversational AI genuinely improves business performance.
